Just for fun. Anybody who knows Hodor…lets hear from you. It's one of my favorite characters. Such a good one that I kept expecting him to be killed off. Not yet. Book 5 is being released in June 2011 (yeah, yeah…we've heard that one before).
Graham knows Hodor. I sent him a Hodor! greeting in e-mail and he shot back a picture of Winterfell. Kool. There's a Hodor Twitter thread going around….assuming you can GET on Twitter to read it. Place is always over-capacity. How do you Twitter people stand for that BS?
Days are too short to be spent in deep, boring maturity. Hodor is our Hero.
OK that was a good one. Went and googled your Hodor. Clicked on a link. Computor flashed up and said was hit by 37 viruses. Thank god for windows security and Norton. They were all caught and blocked.

"Winter is Coming". I suppose you'll just have to read all 4 of the 700 page books, OR wait for the HBO miniseries that starts on April 17. I'm considering going back (to the Kindle) and re-reading the first book before the visual movie depictions replace the images of story and characters that are stored in my brain.
Damn sorry about the virus storm you got. I've had a few hits while browsing but never on that scale. Got one warning just a while ago when browsing the Google images. That's why we keep good protection.
Currently am reading the "Mists of Avalon" series. There are over 10 books in that…who knew? I'm saving "Mists" for last because it's the masterpiece and the finale. Most of the other novels are pre-cursors. Marion Zimmer Bradley died in 1999 so anything in the story written after that is done by other people. While the historical/fantasy background is interesting, some of the books are so BAD. I'm just plowing through them…one a day and not feeling guilty about skimming over the bad writing. Getting them in .txt form so nothing's lost…aside from a bit of wonky formatting on Kindle.
One interesting side effect is that IF you're not already Druid when you begin, you WILL be after about 5 books…or at least an initiate.
I admit, I had no idea who or what Hodor was until I got The Haloed One's message. Knowing a bit about her turn of mind – I looked it up immediately and sent an appropriate response. How does one go about posting a picture with a post on this board? I'm sure the instruction is buried somewhere in the depths of those earlier posts, but I'm old and haven't the time for that.
……………. there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worthwhile doing as simply messing about in boats.

Nope. Never did post instructions for picture entry in messages. As usual, you need to have a personal website or some kind of image program (picture trail etc.) to do it. Lot of people get frustrated by lack of that and the ones who DO have such sites already know how to do it. If you have the site, Graham, I'll send you detailed instructions in e-mail. If it turns out that enough people need those for this program, I'll write it up in the Board Instructions.
You're always fun, Graham…evenwhen I want to kill you.
The mysterious, occult and fantasy. Dragons and Dungeons and all that stuff.
Hodor had the sound of that sort of thing. So, not wanting to let you have oneup on me, I looked it up, as a defensive measure.
I don't have a Photo-bucket or thing like that. Many of the other boards I go to, have a built in "post a pic" feature, so I can post directly from my puter onto the board.

Well, I just finished RE-reading the first book…"Game of Thrones". IT's been only 2 months since I finished the series and it's almost like reading a totally new book. SO much in there that I didn't pick up on the first time read. This go around I know the world and the characters. Makes all the difference.
Can't wait for the start of the HBO Miniseries this coming weekend (April 17). First season will likely be only the first book. There's too much material to cover in that one without going into the other 3 (or 4 when #5 is released this summer).
"When you play the Game of Thrones…you win or you die. There's no middle ground. Winter is coming.
The HBO series of "Game of Thrones" (Song of Ice and Fire) premiere was Sunday night. To say that I loved it is a gross understatement. HBO aired it 3 times consecutively. I watched all 3. It was on again twice on Monday and…yep…I watched it again. What? me…compulsive? Nah. That's only 5 times…nowhere close to my "Avatar" record. The episode was incredibly faithful to the book…almost word for word in spots. All the characters and scenes that were stuck in my head, that I painted there while reading the books were undisturbed. I suppose that's either a tribute to the most excellent writing by George RR Martin, or to my well developed imagination…probably both. So much credit is due to the production people who obviously love this story as much as we obsessive readers do. Haven't seen such a faithful adaptation since "Lord of the Rings". There are just some wonderful stories-characters-scenes that shouldn't bear tampering.
OK, I confess that I'm using it to escape the depressive state brought on by my crapped up computer. Don't ask. It's obviously a friggin registry problem, thanks to Win7 deciding it suddenly didn't want to tolerate the Reg cleaner that I've been using for 2 years…and HAVE used on Win7. Just blew up everything useful. Killed the 32bit IE browser that is built in to Win 7 as a concession (can't download another copy to 64 bit system). The 64 bit has NO PICTURES because you CAN'T put Adobe Flash on a 64bit system (or IE-Spell). So, I'm stuck with Firefox that DOES have pictures but won't import the hundreds of Bookmarks from the 64 bit IE. Fun. Looks like I've totally lost my address program with YEARS of vital entries. Got back a few programs by re-installing them (IF they were new and do work with Win7)…little gadgets like WORD and NERO 10 etc.etc. The 2 FULL system image backups on an external HD won't open up. That may or may not be fixable. I've manually copied all 3 partitions to 2 External drives…can't have too much backup. The world is NOT READY for 64bit. It's a HUGE problem. I HATE WINDOWS 7 ! oh yeah…be sure to hop over and pick up IE 9. THERE'S a screwy upgrade for you.
We're working on it. Family geeks all happen to have "day-jobs" so it will br this weekend before our little Mega-genius-geek…the registry wizard, can get here to look at stuff. Meanwhile, they all figure that so long as I have ANY kind of browser and can still get e-mail I'm not in bad shape. Erg!
I want to go live in Westeros! Haven't seen Hodor yet, but he's due to appear in the next episode. Has anybody here read the books…or viewed the HBO special? I read that they are cleared to do a second season (Book 2) already. I'm re-reading all 4 books…loving them again. The complexity of the story and huge cast of characters will make it hard for anybody who hasn't read the books to follow the action…their loss.
