As most of you know, a beloved member of the glass Forum Community (and indeed, the World), Passed away several days ago.  Graham sent me the link to

Tony's Picturetrail account

where you'll find so many examples of his work.  This is a man, beloved by so many, who was also a great imaginative Talent and Artist.  There's no knowing how long the site will hold his information but I recommend that any interested people go there to view this Legacy.

Thank you, old friend.  We Remember…always.

GOOD NEWS!  I just heard from Cathy Farber that Tony's PictureTrail account won't expire until June of 2011.  As of this posting, Cathy is making arrangements there for her to assume the financial responsibility for keeping it public after that time.

More good news is that I have obtained permission from Tony's Partner, Val, to post his work, found on PictureTrail, in the Glass Gallery here.  This will be our memorial for a beloved person and a great Artist.  Thanks again to Cathy for arranging this.

I'm just posting the Photos and Titles of these works.  Tony has posted extensive descriptions of them, including construction details, with the PictureTrail entries.  I'd advise anybody to view them with their complete history there.

This is such terrible news…. I feel even worse that I haven't been here for such a long time after hearing about Tony!!!  :(  We followed his travels, his work, got help with anything that we needed… :(  He is going to be so missed… :(  Thank you for keeping his work alive Angel.  Now I'm worried about his brother… I can't remember his name, but I know that Tony took care of him after his Mother passed….. I hope that he is ok… God rest Tony's wonderful soul.

His brother was Pete; Tony called him Pickle.  He developed early-onset Alzheimer's and had to go to an assisted living facility. He died before Tony.

Thanks Rebecca.  It is somewhat comforting that Pickle didn't have to live without Tony.

I am just getting back into glass after a couple years, wondered whyTony didn't reply to recent emails, hadn't heard from him in a while but it's not like we had frequent correspondence — gosh his life was looking positive, with Pete sadly dead Tony and Val were free to travel, he thought he had beaten the throat cancer.

I know this is all old news to y'all but I'm in shock tonight.  I hate getting old and losing friends.

Thank you so much whoever has kept his picture trail account going.  The first pic is Beethovan, when I visited him – was that 2005? – he pulled it out from under the bed, it's HUGE!  I true artist, he did things like that for the intrigue of doing them, not a thought about whether there would be a market.

Now who's going to yell at me to learn how to draw?  Never mind, I can HEAR him in my mind.   One of those people who could be impossible and lovable simultaneously.  Gotta love the guy.  Big loss.

Hey Rebecca!  You still have the shop?  It was new when we met.

Every so often I pick up "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" but it's so wordy.  So yesterday I sent for "Keys to Drawing"

by Bert Dodson, supposedly lots more drawing exercises with far less wordiness, both authors learned from the same guy.  So say the folks on Amazon.

Interesting the changes in two years (or three?)  Glass boards in general seem much quieter, several are off line, maybe Tony (and Dennis for a while) was the main show?  Price of solder is triple or more!  Yikes, good thing I have 20 pounds on hand to get me going again.

Can't help thinking about Tony, since I heard of his death only a couple of days ago.  When I went to UK I wanted him to teach me copper foil and 3-D, he wanted to teach me lead came flat work, in the midst of all the arguments I guess I leaned some of both plus a bit of designing.  Gotta DO it!  :)  I'm in a (small) art show in two weeks, sure sounds impressive on paper that "I studied with a private instructor in UK" even if Tony would be tearing out his hair at my love for 3D copper foil!  :) I think my next design will have a wire Tony tree.

So good to see you again, Quasi.  I'm sorry you had  to learn of Tony's passing by reading it here so long after the fact.  Those of us who knew him and loved him, (and frequently had friendly altercations with him Smile), miss him tremendously.  Tony was one of several losses the Glass world saw in the past year or so.  We lost Ernie last January. and Dale Grundon a few months ago in June.  In this medium of text-based communication, there are just no words to truly express the sorrow and sense of loss we all feel.  Of course, what remains are the memories of friendship,  their mighty charisma…and examples of the artistic works they produced.  People live for as long as they are remembered.

Thank you for the memories of Tony that you recounted in other threads here.

BTW, I'm SO glad somebody finally got good use out of the ARCHIVES.  The existing messages are those left on the old SF board.  You might remember that I used to delete about half of them whenever they reached a mass of 8000.  That's why your "baby steps" in message were not there.  Webbie did a great job of retaining those archived posts.  It was, frankly a PITA, but thanks to my nagging and his skill they're there for anybody's use.

Welcome home, gal.
